After removal of a wisdom tooth, why does the adjacent tooth hurt like heck?
Question:
Answers:
just a guess but it might be phantom pain. People who have lost an arm have times when they still feel pain from where their arm used to be. Maybe the pain is a recurrence of your wisdom teeth pain and you are assuming it is with the adjacent teeth
It takes awhile...it's a lot of trauma to your jaw to get your wisdom teeth pulled...give it a few days to lighten up and a wek to really start feeling good
They miss the wisdom you had...lol
You wisdom tooth probably damaged the other tooth when it was coming in.
Wow, I just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out, and I had no pain at all. maybe you should make an appointment and see the dentist!
How many days out are you? If the clot is lost, a condition called dry socket occurs. This will usually show up from 4 to 8 days after surgery. While dry socket is more common on the bottom, it can occur on the top. If the pain continues or gets worse, your oral surgeon will want to see you.
Up until the time of removal, the wisdom tooth was supporting the adjacent tooth from that side. Now that the wisdom tooth is gone, the other tooth lacks that support and it will have a tendency to move in that direction. That is probably what is causing some of the pain. The other reason is as another answerer has said, the general trauma to the jaw in that area. It will pass.
Probably becasue it is now moving. Are you taking your pain medication? When I had mine removed I had to take it or I couldn't sleep because it hurt so bad.
It's because when a tooth is removed, they have to put a bit of pressure on the teeth next to it to get it wiggling. Very common. As long as it gets better & better, you should be fine.
