Braces help??!?

Question:
hello, i am getting braces tomorrow...

any tips?

Answers:
be ready for the pain after they are on for a few hours and they will stay sore for a few days but after that they dont hurt
Your gums will be sore.Brush about 6-7 times a day.Chicken gets stuck in braces and bread is like clay. You may have a few blisters but your mouth will get used to it.Think of the long haul.Good luck.
You will be sore so be prepared. have ibuprofen ready and possibly some wax from the rubbing on your cheks.
Just relax during the procedure. It's gonna feel uncomfortable at first. Eat cold ice cream or water ice afterward to sooth the pain. Believe me it's not as bad as it seems. I just got mine off. It's totally worth it. Good Luck !
dpnt worry about it! you will be fine. when u are getting them on ust relax and eat cold things like ice cream. the orthadontist will tell u thigns not to eat. like gummy, sticky foods. u will love your teeth after the procedure.good luck!
Be prepared for it to be a bit achy for a while... gets lots of softer foods that you like to eat until it feels better enough that you can eat harder things. (And be prepared for the returned sensation after each tightening.)

Get Ambesol (sp?). Chances are, the bands may have little prongs on the inside that bother the hell out of your tongue until you finally get used to it. That and the brackets may make the inside of your mouth a bit raw for a while.

Uh... take care of your teeth or the brackets may leave spots if your teeth discolor between now and the braces removal.

Do not attempt to eat chewy things... I once went ahead and decided to carefully eat a Starburst. Big mistake, the thing just pulled a whole band off a back molar with no problem...so I had to deal with getting it back on and the needless cost to my parents.
im getting mine off monday!!
woohoo!!
but here's the advice:
1.] DONT EAT RICE!(unless your at home and dont care who sees you and your near a toothbrush)
2.] pick the color bands wisely..i always got hot pink..but after a while they faded into an orangy shade, which was gross..stick with silver it last longer and make them less noticable.
3.] BRUSH ALOT! before you get them on and after.. try not to use a whitening toothpaste (it fades the bands and depending on how white..or not white your teeth were before, there might be a spot where the bracket was placed)
4.] floss all the time..(carry around floss in your purse or backpack.. go to the bathroom during class and no one will be there to be embarassed) you can also buy or get some free floss threaders that makes getting the floss in between your braces a lot easier.
5.]think of the benefits!!! i only had mine on a year and a half...some of my friends had them on for 5 years!
6.] they are painful!! always carry ibuprofen and wax...
there are benefits though:
-you can con your parents into ice cream after every appointment... :DDD
-STRAIGHT TEETH!

good luck
