What is recommended for dogs to chew to keep their teeth clean?

Question:

My dog chews the Nylabone kind of bones...they are made for dogs with strong jaws and they don't break off into little pieces.
I brush my dogs teeth myself. Just because my dog doesnt like those dental chews. Plus I know I can do a better job at cleaning her teeth than a bone. My dog only chews on one side. So even if she liked those bones, only one side would be clean. Its not hard. I have a Pitbull and shes 1 yr. old. And she loves it.
I give my dog soup bones we get them at a butcher or some grocery stores have them, they don't splinter which is good for a dog. Just give them one a week, also they have a marrow inside that should be taken out before they eat it as it is very fatting for the dog. My dog had tartar on his teeth I tried brushing them plus tried pedigree dental bones nothing worked except this and now my dogs teeth are nice and white.
