Has anyone had orthognathic surgery (Jaw surgery)? My orthodontist recommended it. What was your outcome?Pain?

Question:

Answers:
I have not personally had orthognathic surgery, but I worked for a "Jaw Surgery Center" for 12 years. Most patients have less pain with jaw surgery that they do with having their wisdom teeth extracted! The most frustrating thing is that you can't chew anything for awhile (6-8 weeks, at least it used to be!). Please don't be scared, you will be amazed at how short a time it takes before you can't stop looking in the mirror saying, "Damn, I'm HOT!!"
