Root canal have to wait for 1 week?

Question:
i visited the dentist regarding my tooth which she recommends a root canal.

At that moment i was feeling pain from within. Felt like the muscles within were aching badly.

But she told me to come back next week for the treatment. Is it normal to wait for this long to get treated when i am already feeling pain..? and she told me to get paracetamol to relieve the pain.

Answers:
you need to man up and take that pain i know it might hurt but hey you are a little pansey girl.
are you on any antibiotics.sometimes they make people wait a little to help clear up an infection in the tooth first before working on it.
More than likely it was simply a scheduling issue. If the pain is excruciating call your dentist's or endodontist's office and express your pain and ask for a sooner date.
yeah unfortunatly if it hurts so bad ur bout to shoot yourself call up an emergency appoint ment they did if for me but i think i was like 12 at the time ;( they suck btw and i had to wait like 2 yrs for my toth to be right so they could finish it ..
Ya it's normal. My 6 year old brother has to get 2 root canals done and they sent him to another dentist because they dont do root canals. It's already been 2 weeks and his appointment is next week. But then again my brother says it doesnt hurt, so that might be why.
If there is an infection involved, the dentist will prescribe a week of antibiotics then perform the root canal. If no infection, there is no reason to wait so long. You may have to pay more for 'emergency treatment' if you do not wait tho. Your mouth, your pain, your call. You can always consult another dentist if you are not happy with your current one.
some times if there is an infection they have to wait for the infection to go away before they can do it.
Unfortunately I have had several root canals. I have never had to wait but I have had to come back after one had been started because I had an infection that needed to be treated before the root canal could be finished. Is the paracetamol to treat an infection? That may be why you need to wait awhile.
No, dentist can do root canal anytime she probably busy.
just go to a different dentist, cause i had a root canal before and they do it in my first visit.but u have to come back like 3 or 4 times
She should have prescribed a round of antibiotics. You should call the office, explain the pain is significant, and see if there is a wait list for any cancellation. If she is a general dentist, see if she can refer you to an endodontist, they may have an opening sooner than your appoinment.

You can take Tylenol, Advil, or Aleve for the discomfort, but they are not going to completely manage the pain.
please tell me she gave you an antibiotic!! If you got an antibiotic you should begin to feel some pain relief within about 24 hours if not sooner. The pain is really from infection which should be treated before they begin to do the root canal. You really don't want to do one when your tooth is "hot". Putting some ice on your face in the area of the pain may help as well as Advil. Don't ask me why, but Advil is very good for mouth pain. Trust me I speak from experience. Good luck.
