What to do about tooth filling discomfort ?

Question:
A while ago my tooth had broke and I got it fixed. She called it a filling. And she had to clean the tooth since it took me a while to get to the dentist after it broke and it was really close to my nerve so she said if the tooth kept giving me problems after the filling then I will need a root canal so she put some medication on it and then applied the filling. But she made it kind of big. She had to keep shaving it down into place. So now it feels like the tooth is a little wide (from fornt to back) and when I bite down I feel it touching my gum. But I'm suppose to get oral surgery to get my wisdom teeth out in like 2 days sooooo what should I do ? Get it fixed right away or wait until after the surgery ? Or should I not do anything at all because discomfort is normal ? And ideas, suggestions, solutions or comments. Please let me hear them.

Answers:
A deep filling that approaches the nerve of the tooth will be painful for a while most of the time. Get your wisdom teeth removed as the dentist recommends, and allow those surgical site to heal. If the repaired tooth has an area on it that seems to be painful, tell the dentist and have it trimmed, smoothed, and polished. The tooth still may need root canal treatment, but only after all other possible causes for the pain are eliminated. Best of luck to you.
I would recommend that you ask the dental surgeon to take a quick look while he/she is extracting your wisdom teeth.

Failing that ring your dentist and explain the situation, they are in a better position to let you know what to do.

I just got a root canal, they are not that bad. Not a nice experience but nothing that will hurt much. I also got my wisdom teeth out last year, I was nervous but it turned out really well, I didn';t swell up much and the surgery itself was very quick!
its normal to experience discomforts after tooth fillings, when you eat cold food you can feel pain or so much cold sensation
No this is not normal. It sounds like the dentist either didnot know what she was doing or tried to do a procedure that she couldnot handle. Personally, I would speak with the oral surgeon for his advice. You may have infection inside the tooth that may turn into an abcessed tooth which is very painful and usually you will have to antibiotics because novacaine will not numb an abcessed, infection tooth. Definitely have someone else for advice.
