Having braces need advice thanks :)?
Heya, iv just had my seperators/spacers put in today and they really hurt omg ! Anyway i just need advice rely from people who have got crapy braces or have had them. What colours do i dodge and wat colours do i go 4. Iv got at the moment dark brown hair and dark brown eyes [hope that helps]
Also could you tell me which part of having braces hurts the most, or if im alredy going through that stage now with the seperators/spacers Thanks hope to get replys quikly xxxxx

Spacers are the worst!!
When they put on the braces you will feel a lot of pressure and then a few hours later you'll feel the tenderness start and you won't be able to chew anything for a few days.
Do not get white or clear rubber bands as they will stain and look gross.
I love the hot pink and teal blue. Right now I have lime green.
The darker ones don't really show up well, I had purple and no one could tell what color they were unless I was out in the sun.
the spacers probly hurt the most about braces. but dont get white or clear they stain easily since your dark brown hair you should get bright colors like orange light blue and so on. but just get colors you like.
hey! basically, braces hurt when they get put on and are tightened. dont go for the lighter colors like glow in the dark (it doesnt even work) or clear. becasue after 1 day, all of your braces will get yellow!! eww!

Hi, i am on my mums account thingy but i have braces and i can tell you as much as i can becus i have braces too.
i think the spacers u have already is the worst. But when u get the actual braces they take the spacers out and they put this silver things on that go around your teeth were ur spacers were, and you have to bite on this plastic thing when they are puttin them in. the nurse that works there said that was the worst bit! I have brown hair and green eyes and i have pink colour elastic. i think pink might suit u or light blue or a liliac colour. Also after u get the braces it will hurt like how the spacers are hurtin at the moment for a couple of days too and u will have to go for check ups and for them to change the wires every 4 or 5 weeks or so dependin on ur orthodontist schedule. good luck xx dont worry

Aww man i had spacers thoses hurt but take sum med. Braces dnt hurt @ all your teeth wil just be sore.But i get silver cuz u can hardly tell wen u have them in.

hey! just to say i had braces a few years ago! the first day is always the worst! it was never quite as painful when it got tightened! but a tip is eat soup and take some painkillers! it helps!!
When i had braces i went for colours for the first year! it makes it much more fun! but i found they were less noticable if i got clear/white ones! but on the colour front dont go for greens or yellows etc since these colours after a few weeks will look a bit discoloured! Im a girl and i really liked pinks and purples! but blues were also quite good too! You dont say what age you are but if your of school age- dont get football colours since most schools do not like this!!

sorry to tell you, but all the pain is yet to come! it was for me anyway. i have had my braces for nearly 7 months now. i dodge the really dark colours like black because they tend to look weird like my teeth are rotting. i also tend to stay away from really light pastel colours because they go a funny colour. i have "lavender" and i havn't had them changed for ages so they've discoloured and look horrid. go for strong but now dark colours. my dentist said the pain comes in 3's. 3 hours after you've had your braces fitted they start to hurt, 3 days later they don't hurt anymore, and 3 weeks later you've forgot you have them on! i forget about mine all the time. they will feel really alien to you when you first put them on but thats normal. don't worry they aren't THAT bad :)

Honey, I've been there! I would suggest that you go with pastel-like colors. With your dark hair and eyes you don't want bright colors because it will look a little tacky. It will stand out more and you don't want people looking at your teeth instead of your eyes when you're talking to them. Stay away from yellow, white and clear because they stain really bad and then it looks like you have stuff in your teeth all of the time.
The spacers hurt like no tomorrow, I agree. Take IBprofen every 4-6 hours. It really helps. I would have to say after about two weeks the pain and soreness subside because your teeth are moving and they are used to the spacers. Once you have your braces on it hurts for the same amount of time. Every time you have your braces tightened the next day your teeth will be sore. You get used to them fast. I suggest that soft foods like yogurt, pudding, etc. is what you should eat when your teeth are sore. Hope this helped a little. Good luck!
My ortho told me to use the darker bands because they are thicker and stronger which will help get your braces off faster. Don't worry about using your braces to accesorize worry about getting them off soon.For me the worst part was getting my wires changed every so often because they are taking pressure off your mouth by taking the wire out and then putting the pressure back on by putting in a new wire.
