Should i be wearing elastics after dental work?

Question: i had a filling today and my jaw and gums are sore do i have to wear my rubberbands because even without my jaw already hurting they hurt ALL the time because i have two going one way same spot and triangle things ha
could i go a night and day without wearing them or will my teeth move back just so i can let the pain from the filling go down a little??
