How much longer do you think I'll be in braces?

Question:
Whenever I ask my ortho how much longer I'll have my braces on for, he's never very specific. He says "Oh, if this goes well and this goes well, then I could see you getting them off in Fall." Right now my teeth are really straight, they're not pretruding or anything, and I don't have an overbite anymore. My midline is being corrected this month with rubber bands and after my next appointment I won't have to wear them anymore. The woman at my ortho office who showed me how to put the rubber bands in said that after they corrected my midline they could "finish me up." My bottom teeth look perfect, and so do my top, except I have a small gap inbetween 2 teeth on one side. Can anyone give me an estimate just by the information I provided?

Answers:
The reason the orthodontist is not telling you an exact date is because he is not sure either. There is no way to tell exactly because if a tooth moves a certain way or does not move the right way. At our office we never tell a patient when he/she will be getting their braces off because if we say they are coming off and something does not work out then the patient/parent is very upset with us. All I can suggest is that you wear the rubber bands as instructed and make sure you don't break anything and they should be off in a couple of months. A lot of times the patient thinks the teeth are perfect but the Dr. sees something that is not exactly right. You just have to trust the Dr. because trust me he does not want to keep you in braces any longer than you have to. Just hang in there you are almost done! Good Luck!
This varies from person to person.
It took two years for me.
Just suck it up and suffer quietly...you'll be happy with the results.
probubly about what the doc says. they need to finish it up and than hold it like that 4 a while. trust me i know what ur going through! hope u like ur teeth! its worth it!
They told me, "You're going to get them off soon."

After the bands, you probably have to wear it for about 6 months to a year (a guess, it depends) if you don't mess up your braces by chewing gum.

Before getting my braces off, they didn't tighten for about 2-3 monthly visits, which is why it might take longer.
