I had a tooth filling fall out and now I can see the cotton that was placed by the dentist, What do I do?

6 months ago I had an intense tooth ache. It turns out I had a dead nerve that had to be extracted. I was eating and the filling came out and now I can see the cotton that was placed before the filling. What do I do? Am I in danger of it becoming infected? Should I keep the cotton in there? what should I do if it falls out? I can't see the dentist till the weekend, what do I do in the mean time? I don't have any intense pain but it is a bit sensitive when I put pressure on it. Please help me, I am two hours away from home at school and I am totally freaking out! Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

First of all you need to see your dentist a.s.a.p.Until then,whatever you do,do not take the cotton out of there.You are not gonna have any pain.Don't worry about that.Go to a drug stor and see if they have a temporarry felling materil.I am not sure about that.If they do ,buy it and pack it in there.The idea is to keep the area dry and clean.If they don't have it,i am thinking some safe playdoe.Or paper glue,with the cotton there.Do not remove the cotton.Don't chew gum,or candy on that tooth.So try to keep it clean and dry.Just pack something in there,that can be removed safely later.Good luck.

Don't chew anything on that side...go to the dentist have them repair it! I know it suxs I had a whole bunch done they don't feel the greatest..but worth it so they don't have to start all over again!

i am a 13 yr old and u need to go straight to a dentist and get a new filling u can ask 4 a refund cause he didn't do it right so i know this because i have had 2 fillings and he said the exact same thing so trust me it will be worth ur while! u might want to call ur dentist and tell him he will give u instructions untill u can get 2 him!

go to the drug store a get a temperary filling product like "dental temp"
just ask drugest
