How long does a root canal take?
Question:

It depends on which tooth it is a anterior tooth, premolar, molar...anywhere from 45 minutes- 2 1/2 hours. It also depends if you are getting a filling done on top of it or you are getting a post/crown or getting just a crown. Yes, you can still get the rct done tom.
i just had one done about a month ago. It was pretty infected. it should take a 1-2 hours depending on how deep they need to go, if there are any delays etc. He should be able to do it with the meds and it infected, and often times, after the root canal he would put you on meds for the infection anyway. Good luck!
about 45 mins for one canal .Also what tooth? Depends if your swollen, allot of dentist don't want to work on you if your swollen due to the medicine they give ya to numb you won't be as effective. Some just want to make sure the infection is clearing up before they work on you.
They like to schedule you for an hour appointment. Had two teeth done recently on different days of course. One was badly infected, and the dentist wanted the infection cleared up before he did anything. Hope your dentist has your health and safety rated first, than lining his pockets.
Ask your dentist if he does root canals on a regular basis. I would get a referral to a specialist if he doesn't do them all the time. How long it takes depends on how many patients the doctor is working on at the same time. I went to a doctor that does root canals as a specialty all day long. I was there for a couple of hours. As for the infection, I would definitely request another antibiotic if you don't feel the first one was effective. It can become a real nightmare if you don't get it cleared up soon. So if you end up waiting for a specialist that would be good time taken to get your infection under control. Don't be in a hurry to get it done tomorrow. Eliminating the infection and having the right doctor do the procedure is worth the wait.
I just had TWO done last week, in ONE sitting. It lasted for 45mins! I was amazed how fast my Endodontist was! (and it didn't hurt at all!!) My tooth was also infected, and took Amoxicillin as well, but also Flagyl for 10 days before the root canal.
I was also prescribed some more antibiotics after the root canal. You should be fine tomorrow! Good luck!
