Porcelain Vaneers -- Did my dentist do them wrong?
Question:
When I got them they felt too big, they hurt, and my gums were red/bleeding. The dentist made them a little smaller but then one was 'wavy' instead of straight.
Anyways they don't hurt much anymore (only when I bite something hard, they're sensitive to that, feels like they'll break.) and my gums are still red and bleed when I brush my teeth. I brush 3 times a day.
I had 3 dentists evaluate them and they all said very different things. One said they were fine. Another said there was a cavity underneath. The third said they just needed to be resealed.
I'm scared of trusting any of them. Having these vaneers put on was perhaps the most painful experience in my life, I don't want to repeat it. I felt every bit as the teeth were filed down. There was blood everywhere. $4k for TORTURE

I cant comment on the work that was done because I don't know what the tooth structure was like at the time of preparation or the type of mal-occlusion(bite) you have. All these factors are to be taken into consideration.
I can give you a few points to evaluate what treatment MAY be required.
- If it is sensitive to hot it generally means that the nerve in the tooth is not very healthy and could abcess at any time.
- if it is sensitive to cold - like one of the dentists have explained the margin may be leaking. - You could have a flouride application done and if the symptoms resolve you would have found the problem.
I personally feel that it might be one of the following due to the gum condition not resolving
- either the margin around the veneer is not ideal and needs finishing.
- or if it is an incisal overlay prep(covering the incisal portion) and this is contacting prematurely it would cause trauma from occlusion(TFO).
These are just some of the possibilities. I hope this helps.
Good Luck
