My temporary crowns are ugly; will the final ones be better?

Question:
I'm having my old crowns replaced (front 3 teeth, root canals were done 15 years ago). I'm happy with the way the bite feels, but hate the way they look. They stick out in a "bucktooth" sort of way, and look plumper than normal teeth. I was hoping that these new ones would look much better than my old ones. Also, the front two teeth are bridged together, since one of them is a bit loose, and the "crease" between these teeth isn't quite realistic; on the temp crown, it sort of looks like I have tartar between those two teeth.

Will the final crowns look better in these respects, or are they going to be shaped and positioned just like these temps?

If you need details...I busted the three front teeth out 15 years ago as a teenager, in a car accident. Root canals and crowns were done. Since then, the gums receded, gray area was visible, and the positioning has shifted. The middle of the three teeth is a bit loose, so two--possible three--of the crowns will be bridged together

Hi,

No, your permanent crowns will not look like your tempories.

The material we use at the practice I work isn't all that great and doesn't give a realistic look and feel to the teeth. Plus, we only have one shade, which isn't always that of the patient's other teeth shade. We have more than one technique, though.

Because of the way some temporary crowns are made, it can make the temporary crowns look unrealistic, such as the tartar look between teeth, but rest assured your permanent crowns will be a lot better, providing you are getting them done by a good dentist.

I hope you are pleased with your new crowns, once placed.

Keep smiling,

IC.
Tempory crowns are just what it says~ temporary. Your permanent crowns will be more like your regular teeth.. in shape and shade (color).

If the temps come out, all you need to do is have them recemented back in.

Good Luck!

:)
Absolutely! My front teeth were lost in an accident as well.
My temps looked like pebbles and were all blue around the edges, ugh.
I had my crowns replaced after 10 years and my new ones are amazing and look so much like my other teeth.
yes, once you get permanent ones no one will know that you even have a crown.
