What's the point?

Question:
I just got rubber bands on my braces...could somone explain to me what they're for?

Answers:
if they go accross all the metal they are for pulling your teeth together and eliminating gaps. but if they connect your top and bottom jaw in different places then they are used to realign your bite line so your teeth connect better when you bite down.
It helps force your teeth to move.
Those rubber bands supply a subtle spring-like "pulling" force, which, -in time-, will move a tooth (or teeth), in the direction needed.

There are different sizes of rubber bands, stronger and weaker; That's to regulate the effect, and avoid, a too drastic (and painful) change, in your teeth positions...

G'd Luck!
They help pull your teeth to were they should be.
Like if you have an over bite or something it will pull your teeth back to make that go away.
It also helps them align more.
get a life
To keep the braces tightened and formed around your teeth. I had them when I was younger to.
