i am having a labial frenectomy surrounded by a week and i am really scared. for my consultation i blanked out and forgot to ask question. does anyone know if there are any side affects, I don`t know after a couple of years, after having a labial frenectomy? for example a droopy upper lip. also if the frenum attaches the upper lip to the gums, later if that gets taken away wont the upper lip move within different directions when you talk?

The frenum generally does not affect the position of the lip on your facade...at least, not as far as I know. Thus, removing it almost incontestably will not cause any changeover in position of your lip when relaxed.
Depending on the size and attachment points of the frenum, and the relaxed position of your lip, removing the frenum may increase the mobity of your lip, which within turn may slightly alter the shape of your smile, (e.g. a little more tooth-show of your upper teeth). The correct would be very minor, however.
Typically, removal of the frenum is not for the purpose of your lip, but a bit your teeth, as its presence (when attached between your maxillary incisors) can cause a life-size gap between your maxillary federal incisors.
