eight or nine years kind of lost count, i think it was 8 and i hope i hold the record on here that nobody on here had to have longer, my fathers a dentist so i guess it fits that i woukd have the worst teeth

I had them for 4.5 years, and I had to have oral surgery while I was wearing them. It's worth it in the end.
Oh, and don't neglect to wear your retainers, cause your teeth will go right back to where they started (before braces) if you don't. True story.
i got them on at 11 yrs old, off just before my 16th bday. Sucked! ha ha but i was suposed to wear headgear & I hardly wore it so that's why it probably took so long. also i had to have a lot of teeth pulled. also i'm 31 now so i bet orthodontic science has come a long way since then.
i haven't had braces yet but I'm getting them soon and my orthodontist says i have to have them for 3 to 4 years...eek = [[

holy crap dude, three months... that's it i had mine for 2 years but... now my teeth look FLY!! haha.
3 years, 1 month, 2 days. I hated them even though I didn't have to wear the headgear. My cousin wasn't so lucky, she did. I think it sucks now how they have
"invisalign" available which allows you to straighten teeth without braces... I was never given that opportunity because there was no such thing ... I had to have 1 molar pulled much to my protest (i hate needles). I wouldn't let the dentist touch me at all so ended up having an IV and the novicane needle both along with the tooth extraction. Not a good experience, but hey, I didn't have to watch, wasn't awake! ;)
Also, I've heard people tell me my teeth are FLY now, but I don't really see any change. I really don't recommend getting them, even if u have to.

your teeth mustn't have been too crooked.
i've got them on now and at the start the ortho told me 18 monthes.
but now, he said i may have to have them on for at least another 6 monthes extra because i chose to wait for a tooth to come down instead of having it extracted. the tooth didn't come down so today i'm going to get it out and i've still got that 6 monthes extra!
if you ever get the choice, have the tooth out at the start.

I had braces about 27 years ago. I had them for three years...I had the added problem of having an overbite or ''buck teeth'', so I had to wear a ''headgear'', for about a year, in order to correct that problem. My 20 year old son is about to get braces and he told me that his orthodentist said he will need to have them on for 2 years.
I have just had it for a week...a year and half to go...yay highschool is gonna be so much fun now
