I'm 22 and i'm getting braces aug 6th. I wanted the invisible ones but my dentist said no b/c he didnt think they would work best on my teeth. so i asked about ceramic ones and he said yes for those ones. but i'm only getting them on the top teeth and metal on the bottom teeth. In my opinion I would ask for ceramic braces b/c they are quicker to correct your teeth than the invisible braces and they cost alot less. pretty much your dentist will tell you what kind of braces he wants to put on you, b/c everyone is different so i would go with what your dentist tells you. I'm 41 and have ceramic braces on top. They did cost me $400 more but I was willing to pay the price.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having metal mouth as an adult, but I've been there, done that and didn't want to do it again!
They are a little larger than regular braces but not so much that they make my lips stick out. Any braces are going to take time to get used to - but I was able to whistle again the next day, and my F's and S's returned as well.
I would suggest invisalign becasue those are completely clear and you wont have brackets. You will have a set of aligners that move your teeth. You can also remove them when you eat and brush. For more info go to invisalign.com
I would also suggest invisalign. I got them last week and no one even knows that I am wearing them because they are clear. Perfect for adults and they are about the same price as regular braces. They work faster too!
