Have you heard of this?My daughter has extra teeth that do not have roots.?

Question:
She has had tooth extracted twice now third tooth is coming in without roots for the second time. Does anyone know a name for this condition? We travel and need to find a pediadontist in or near York Pa .Know any?

Answers:
This condition is called Supernumerary “extra” teeth it is the result of continued multiplying of baby or permanent Teeth buds, which result in normal looking teeth or small tiny teeth.
These teeth are often found in the permanent teeth more than the primary teeth, and in the upper jaw more than the lower jaw. The anterior midline of the upper jaw is the most common site, followed by the upper wisdom teeth area.

Supernumerary impacted teeth may block and delay the eruption of the teeth, and if they erupt they may cause malalignment of the teeth.

Supernumerary appearing at the time of birth are known as “natal teeth” which usually found in the lower incisors area. Supernumerary teeth appearing after the loss of the permanent teeth are known as postpermanent dentition. Usually most cases of teeth appearing after extraction are believed to be due to the eventual eruption of previously impacted teeth.

Ask the dentist for your X-rays and all you can do is keep extracting any extra teeth that come through.
Maybe she should see an "Orthodontist"
