Anything that may help bleeding Gums?

Question:
When my husband wakes up in the morning his mouth and pillowcase is full of blood from his gums. He has been to three dentists and they all say there is nothing they can do, just rinse with mouthwash. Has anybody else experienced this kind of problem and is there anything he can do to reduce the bleeding? It only seems to happen at night.

Answers:
He should probably see a Periodontist since it sounds like he has really bad perio disease. There has to be something wrong, im surprised a dentist would say there is nothing that can be done. Bleeding gums are NEVER normal!
brush and floss more?
Bleeding gums is a sign of infection. He should floss twice a day, along with brushing and using mouthwash.
It sound's like he has very bad gum disease. Don't know what you can do if dentists can't help.
I find that the more often I clean my teeth, the less they bleed.
But unfortunately I don't really know much about it.
Good luck.
try rinsing the mouth with warm salt water and go to your family Dr for antibiotics as your hubby most likely has an infection as well
Keep rinsing with mouthwash for a month. The bleeding is from an infection under neath the gum line. He has Gingivitus. The alcohol in the mouthwash will kill the bacteria attacking his gums.
Use listerine witch is the strongest mouthwash out there. It should clear up in a month or so.
i have to be honest i don't know too much about this kind of stuff, but maybe it's because your husband isn't spending too much time flossing and brushing. i know for a fact your gums bleed when you havn't taken care of them. Remeber flossing is just as important as brushing, maybe more.
I thought bleeding gums were a sign of gingivitits. Maybe he should keep asking dentists or other types of doctors about this. If the bleeding is that bad then I can't imagine why they would say theres nothing they can do. It could be a symptom of something else.
It sounds like Gingivitus to me. Tell him to see a dentist and ask about WHAT to do about Gingivitus (oh yeah, tell him to brush his choppers REGULARLY)
Bleeding gums are not uncommon, and most often, the culprits are either brushing too hard or flossing infrequently. Beyond lightening up with the toothbrush and/or flossing more regularly (every day, so that your gums get used to it), you can stop the bleeding naturally, with ingredients you'll find in your cupboard.

Ingredients Half a lemon
1 cup of warm water
1 teaspoon of honey
Steps [edit]Squeeze the juice out of the lemon.
Mix it with the water.
Add the honey.
Stir it all up.
Drink it, making sure to swish it all throughout your mouth before you swallow.

Tips This drink should be taken every morning.
Massaging the gums gently with coconut oil also helps.
Massaging your gums gently with warm water and a soft toothbrush helps toughen them up. Tougher gums are less likely to bleed.

Warnings This remedy does not replace a dentist's attention. It is for temporary relief from bleeding gums. See a dentist as soon as you can because the problem could be serious.
Do not use this remedy if you are, or think you might be, allergic to lemons or honey!
either salt water mouthwash or hydrogen peroxide mouthwash , then use sensodyne toothpaste
he isn't brushing his teeth and the results are bleeding gums, bad breath, tooth decay and many infections. get him on his toothbrush or he'll have only two choices left; pay millions of dollars on repairing his mouth or to gum his sandwich.
Brush the gums gently with soft tooth brush although it makes gums bleed you need to brush them as good as you brush your teeth your gums just as important as yr teeth good luck try a sensitive toothpaste too hope it helps
He needs to see another dentist as he has tried everything possible. If not, see a doctor. This is not normal. Good luck!
Gums shouldn't bleed unless he has a problem, medically.

My gums bleed, not that much, but it got worse when I stopped smoking. I got told that the vessels in the gums get thin when you smoke therefore when you stop smoking they bleed as they start to thicken up again. It takes 6 months for the gums to reduce bleeding.

Other things are, poor diet and gum disease as to what I know of.

I know you mentioned that he has seen three dentists already, I would going to another to be sure, and also there's flossing and mouth wash that can help.

If you go into boots and speak to them, they will probably reccommed a mouth wash for gingavites. It's good stuff.
My brother suffered from this problem and was told that during the night as he slept bacteria multiplied in the mouth and because of the way he slept (mouth open), the gums dried and became more prone to bleeding.
He had considerable success with the following. Try an automatic toothbrush with a soft head attatchment. His dentist recommended an automatic toothbrush as you get a superier clean than cleaning manually (more plaque and bacteria removed = healthier gums), and a softer brush head to prevent gum damage. A really good toothpaste to try is called Aloe Vera which can be purchased either in health shops or Waitrose (maybe other large stores, boots etc). This toothpaste is more expensive than your average brand, but gives a great clean and is very 'gum friendly' not abrasive, but for sensitive gums etc is worth the cost as it really seemed to cut down the bleeding.
Suggest he eats pineapples. It may sound odd but they contain a vitamin or substance which helps gums to heal.
