Question:
I read in a home remedy book earlier about how you can make teeth whiter by mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste then brushing stains away. I just did that very gently to my teeth and my gums started hurting and they kinda turned white, not the natural pink. My teeth do seem a little whiter though, can this be bad for my health? how often should I do this to keep it at a non excessive amount?
Answers:
See your dentist. You may have done some damage to your gums.
I'm not sure that continuing use in the face of pain is a good idea. There are a plethora of brands of regular toothpaste many of which contain whiteners. Try to find one that whitenes without hurting you.
the combination of peroxide and baking soda can burn tissue, which explains the white spots. its probably best to not do that again =)
Buy an over the counter whitening system instead
