Have i got Dental Amalgam Poisoning?
Question:
New white filling below the Amalgam filling.
The white one is putting pressure on the Amalgam filling - so much so the opposite side of my jaw do not meet when closed.
For the past 2 days i have had a metallic taste in my mouth and suffered mild abdominal pain and increased salivation.
Hopefully off to NHS Dentist on Monday if they have any cancellations.
Any advice please.

Hi! I have been in dentistry for over 25 years and this is a common problem when the teeth are out of occlusion. You are putting too much pressure when you bite down and the filling is leaking. Your saliva makes this taste like metal. You need to get back to your dentist and have h/her check the bite and reduce it until it is comfortable. I don't understand the purpose of the white filling under the Amalgam unless it was a sedative filling to stop any nerve issues that could result in a root canal. That is another situation entirely. Call and demand an appointment tomorrow. Do not wait. Tell them you are in pain and that is the secret word to get immediate attention. Complain, complain, complain. That works as well. The pressure can cause the the nerve to stress out and you will have a grade 1 toothache. Don't wait and demand an appointment and get seen tomorrow. And PS, you do not have amalgam poisoning. Marie
