16 year old kid, not rich, braces... insurance? his fault?

Question:
she had braces before, always wore the retainer.. but her teeth shifted... her orthodontist is such a lazy b*stard...

ex: 1)when she had her braces, one of her bottom backets broke off and did he fix it? no. he said "eh it's fine, trust me it's my job" (okay bull?)...

2) her teeth were not even straight when we took the braces off.

3) retainer breaks (not totally in half, the small like points that go between the teeth)- he says it's fine.

4) my son and daughter tell me that when they went in to get their bands changed, he uses the same tools on everyone without sterilizing them (doesn't have it in the plastic wrapping at all.)

okay, so with that said her teeth seem to be getting worse (as so the dentist said as well)... [5k for braces? my car doesn't even cost that much] the insurance covered the braces and retainer the first time, but should i really have to pay for another set of braces when HE took them off too early and is too lazy to fix anything? what can we do?

Answers:
Yes, I would definitely report him to whatever association orthodontists belong to in your state (ask a dental professional in your area). I would not go back to see him for anything other than to tell him how unsatisfied you are. Unfortunately, he will probably give you the run around.

A note on the side however, an instrument doesn't need to be wrapped to be sterilized. Dentists sometimes sterilize instruments without wrapping when they need it back quickly because the process takes a shorter time (only 3 minutes) without being wrapped. The instruments are usually wrapped because they stay sterilized in the package if they don't need them right away.
Have you told all of this to the orthodontist? Maybe if you let him know that you are extremely unhappy with paying 5000 bucks for his work. Let him know that her teeth are getting worse and see what he can do about it. If he refuses to do anything about it, get another orthodontist and complain to the state about him.

Hope this helps! :-)
