Is it better to floss before or after brushing your teeth?I know it sounds stupid haha?

Our dental assisting class had a discussion about this and our teacher said it was better to floss before so that fluoride from the toothpaste can seep in between your teeth better.
I usually like to brush, floss, then brush again. Not a stupid question in the least, so don't worry.

I generally try to floss then brush so I can pull out any gunk then get the rest with the toothbrush.
i would say its better to floss before brushing your teeth... because then when your brush all the bacteria thats removed between your teeth gets washed away
Before, so when you brush all the gunk is rinsed away.
brush than floss then brush ....all done!!!lol:P
Not a dumb question.
I floss first, then brush.
I've always been told (not that it comes up that often!) that it's best to floss before brushing. That way the surfaces between your teeth will get the full benefit of the fluoride in your toothpaste.
i think its better before cause you floss all that gunk from in between gets all over your mouth
Just had my teeth cleaned at the dentist office last week. They always clean first, then floss. I assume that would be the correct way.
after always never before
i asked that of my dentist, and they said floss first so you can brush away the placque that loosens up from the floss. but i use a mouthwash first to help it out anyway.
both! ... but after makes more sence. Brush you teeth, get out what you missed, then rinse. woo hooo! clean teeth!
well both sides have an argument
Before: loosen up any stuck food that the toothbrush can sweep away
After: Catch any bits of food that the toothbrush didn't get
My vote is before because u can always trust floss to get trapped food where as the toothbrush can miss bits sometimes
The dental profession seems to be split on this question, with a slight majority leaning towards flossing first. For myself, I prefer to brush first because flossing a cleaner mouth has far less "yuck" factor when handling the floss.
It depends on what you prefer...I personally brush, floss, brush again, then rinse.
Floss before and after brushing your teeth, to make sure nothing in between teeth, is the best.
Usually you floss before, it gets all the gunk out from between your teeth and gums and lets the toothpaste and mouth wash really get in there and do it's work. At least it does for me. It also loosens the plaque buildup enabling the toothbrush to get rid of it.
i don 't do brushing or flossing but you should clean, flossing, and rinse
It doesn't matter. Or that is to say that dentists are divided.
But in my case I like to floss before, because I don't floss enough and my gums bleed. And I'd rather not have blood be the last taste in my mouth before going to bed.
floss then brush
before
