Question: Are the chances of gum erosion less than that of a labret piercing? And can a piercer determine before hand if you will avoid it or not by examining your gums or something?

Any oral piercing can have negative effects. Aside from the potential for infection, it can cause gum recesion,chipped teeth, loss of enamel, possible tooth loss.
