I have really bad inflamed gums with purple lines and get bad breath because of this. What do I do?

Question:
My dentist told me to massage my gums everyday but it is not helping!

Answers:
If you can find it try Spry Toothpaste. My gums stopped bleeding so easily once I started using it. My teeth were cleaner too. My regular toothpaste didn't seem to do a thing when I was using it. The first link below helps you locate stores that sell it.

My husband insists that anything that's going on in the mouth and gums and throat can be cured with salt water rinsing. I, on the other hand, believe that Listerine is the way. Initially, it burns, but Listerine is the only mouthwash that has an essential oil in it (a dental hygienist told me this after a seminar she attended) that stays behind even after you are done rinsing. You might also take a multivitamin and check into your diet to try to determine if you may be lacking certain vitamins -- I believe Vitamin C is important to have healthy gums. Check out a store like Vitamin World where they have a computer available that will allow you to access vitamin and herbal information to treat your specific problem. My first instinct would have been to see a dentist, but it looks like your dentist was not able to find an organic reason for your problem...Hope you find help through one of these suggestions.
Check with your dentist but until then buy a mouthwash called Peroxyl. It might be where the dental stuff is. It's for mouth & gum sores. It might help some until you can get to the dentist.
I switched to a toothbrush with Extra Soft bristles. My gums were receding from the wear and tear of brushing. I bought 3 or 4 toothbrushes until I found the softest one there is. My gums are much better now.

There is a great toothbrish for bad breath. It is Aquafresh Extreme Clean. It tastes like a minty version of Listerine and is super bubbly. You can get a free sample from their website.

What you need to do is go to Periodontist, he or she will tell you that you need a deep cleaning. It will cost you, since its consider a surgery. Then you will have to maintain your gums healthy by visiting the dentist every 3 months to have regular checkups. after having the deep cleaning done you should have a prescription mouth wash prescribed to you which you should use as prescribed since most of RX mouth wash do tend to stain your teeth which you can't avoid it since the mouth wash is use primarily for your gums. Also brushing at least 3times daily and flossing after every meal, it won't make the problem go away but it will also not make it worse.
It sounds like you need to see a periodontist. He/she is a specialist in gum problems and would be the best qualified to diagnose and treat your problem. Ask your dentist for a referral if the periodontist requires one. Don't delay because the problem with only get worse without treatment and might lead to tooth loss.
