Could I have a cyst where my wisdom tooth was extracted?

Question:
I went to the oral surgeon in May and got all four of my wisdom teeth removed. My teeth have straightened out a little because of the free space they have. I've been having discomfort in the bottom left place where the tooth was extracted, so today I decided to bring out the flashlight and take a look. My last back tooth on that side has pushed my gums so back and towards my cheek so it could move (it was facing in towards my tongue) and it is swollen beside my cheek and jaw bone. Could this be tissue, something they left in my gums, bone, or a cyst? They took xrays before we set a date to get them surgically removed and the oral surgeon told me there was dark tissue below my tooth and it could be a cyst (but it was under both bottom teeth). He removed it when he took my teeth out and sent it to the lab, but it came back as just left over tissue from the making of my teeth. But this bubble place where my tooth once was is as big as a tooth. It isn't hard, but gushy. Help?

Answers:
It can be the gums getting used to the fact a tooth is no longer there. If you can remember, when your teeth were erupting from your gums, there were little pockets on top of the tooth. It could be these pockets trying to fix themselves. If the root was broken off, its fine. It'll eventually work it's way out of your socket, you could spit it out, or you could swallow it while you're eating. The gushy tissue can be swollen gums. You can always check with your DDS for professional advice.
