What is the procedure for giving a bedbath?

basically -start at the top and work your way down- preserve modesty and body heat as much as poss. by only uncovering the part or limb that you are actually washing. avoid soap in the 'nether regions' as that upstes skin ph balance and can cause thrush. don't use same facecloth on body as you do those areas too. make sure to dry well but not rub too hard, and use lotion for a quick back rub if they are long term patients on bed rest as they find it very soothing. move all the limbs through range of motion as you do it, as it helps keep flexibility.
hope this helps, and chat as you go- it can't be too comfortable being bathed!
Here's a link with a checklist you can print out and take with you to work.
Good luck!

I am not in the medical profession but I have had to give bedbaths numerous times as I used to work with the disabled.
Of course you want to have all the bathing necessities close at hand, preferably within arms reach. have extra towels as well.
Undress the client where you will be bathing him or her. This is to give them some privacy and comfort. Start at the top: washing the face first. Then the neck, etc. It is important that you dry as you go. Some people easily get water bumbs (bed sores). Wash the front/top then the front/back. Dry off. Change the water. You should also dress this part of the body maybe just put the bra or undershirt. Then move on to the lower/front washing the extremities and then pubic areas. Then the lower/backside. Dry thoroughly and dress.
I suggest that you should change the water atleast three (3) times. Who rinses off in soapy water?
