Reversal on NHS?
Question:
Know he has left her for me, we would like children cos he got dignosed with canncer, has 10 years or more, loves me to bits and has never been happyer considering all we have been through. I know chemo affects fertility but stranger things have happened and would still like to try would he be able to get it on the NHS for the reasons above.
Cos he is not working we can't afford it private. He has had the snip for 3 years or so.
Answers:
Vasectomy reversal is free on the NHS. 8 out of 10 men father children following a reversal after 3 years. Obviously this also depends on your fertility also. It would probably be best to find out if your ovaries are working before your partner has to go through an operation.
It can be reversed but it's hit and miss. Your reason is enough to have it done on the NHS in the UK. I know a guy that had it reversed for his new wife and fathered two children, so have hope and faith.
My best advice is for you both to talk to your doctor and really emphasise your desire to have a family. You'll likely be referred to a GU consultant for interview before any decisions are made.
I don't know what the statistics are on successful reconnection but I wish you both the very best of luck and I hope you are able to have the children you want.
