Good question! Several people I've known have had braces and once they have gotten them off they have had to wear a retainer. I also noticed that they had yellow square spots on their teeth from where the braces were. You might want to try some whitening strips for that. The retainer situation depends upon what you needed the braces for, but most likely you'll just have to wear the retainer during the day. The main reason for a retainer is just so your teeth don't go crooked. Next time you see your dentist you might want to ask these questions for verification. Good luck!
when you first get your braces off you will need to wear then every day and night and you can take them out when you eat. Then after a few months then you will just wear them at night. Good luck :)
Yes, you do need to wear retainers because teeth will move if not retained. You will need follow up visits with your Orthodontist and do as he say's. Normally they are worn at first full time and later they can be worn less but remember to follow the advise of your orthodontist, you don't want to go through braces again!
Well, i had braces when i was pretty young and after my braces i had to get a retainer.Which isn't that bad, i had to wear it every day and sometimes night. i dont know about you but i had braces only on the top. My sister had to do the same thing and she had braces on both the top and the bottom. But it might depend on the orthodontist.
You'll have to wear retainers until your teeth are set in place. Thats simply because the braces have moved them but it doesn't make sure they don't shift to how they were before. Most people I know wear them at night at first then for a few hours of the day after getting used to them. The uncertain part of it is how long you'll be wearing them for. Only the progress you make can determine that.

Once I got my braces removed, they gave me a retainer to wear every day for 6 months, and then switch to nights only after that 6 months for another year or two. But each orthodontist is different...
after braces you do get a retainer most likely a permanent retainer on the bottom and a removable one for the top. you are supposed to wear the removable one 24/7 for a year (except when eating) and then after that at night for between 1-3 years
