About Lumineers?
Question:
I'm 15 & i would hope to get them soon.
I don't want braces, because, it would be a waste of money, because my teeth are almost straight, the only problem is my over bite, which i don't mind.
I want them, just to make my teeth whiter & more straight.
About how much are they?
Is it painful?
Do you think it's worth the money?
Don't tell me to look on the website, i already have, and i want other people's opinions.
Answers:
Good luck with this question. Last time I asked about them my question was removed! My dentist charges an amazing $1475 per tooth. He thinks he is famous since he did the Extreme Makeover TV show contestants though. The Indianapolis area charges $750- $1,100 per tooth. Most people need 8 -10 depending upon the width of your smile. More, if you want lowers too. Like you, everyone tells me my teeth are beautiful and white and I get compliments, would just like them whiter than bleaching gets them plus have more of a point to my canine teeth than I'd like. No, there is never any pain, not even a shot unless your teeth are terrible and it sounds like yours are not at all. People think I am nuts but yes, to me it is worth the money as your smile can never be too white or bright IMO. In fact Extreme Make Over doc likes regular veneers better. He said he used Lumineers on teens more than anyone as there is no major work or harm done to your teeth underneath. Please, do not let any dentist talk you into traditional veneers! They drill away you natural teeth! Lumineers are so thin they don't have to.
My post was to get input form those that actually HAD them, hope you have more luck with your question than I did. :)
I thought Lumineers were like ceramics for your teeth?
Ceramics are recommended for people with dead teeth, so dentists can drill in, and over 35*.
I don't want braces either (and I'm 15, small world) but there are invisible braces called Invisaligned, claimed to realign teeth in about a year. Since your teeth are almost straight and you have a little overbite that you don't mind, I think the realignment process should take less than 9 months. Invisalign is very comfortable and very successful.
Here are some things from Invisalign.com:
A certified Invisalign provider will create your individual treatment plan using Invisalign’s clear, custom-molded aligners to solve a range of issues, including:
~Overly crowded teeth
~Widely spaced teeth
~Overbites
~Underbites
~Crossbites
With Invisalign, you can:
~Be as active as you like because Invisalign won’t hold you back
~Remove your aligners for special events, eating and brushing
~Feel more confident everywhere you go
~Unobtrusive in business meetings or social gatherings
~No metal wires or bands to irritate your mouth
~Many people won’t notice you’re wearing aligners
Now as for the whitening, I think that'd be a different story but it could all be done at one place.
*my guess of when teeth stop growing and are able to be cut and drilled into for ceramics.
T.vo :Ceramic venners are not only recommended for people with dead teeth and u can have them at any age not only over 35*.
Having said that, I believe 15 is too young an age to have such work done especially when their is an alternative such as Bleaching to get ur teeth whiter.
