Brace Elastics, When should i take them off?
Question:
(I dont really care about overbite anyway, think its fine as is)
Answers:
If you have an overbite, I am guessing that you are probably a class2 malocclusion. A few studies have shown that this bite later on in life causes TMJ problems and i presume that this is why your orthodontist is trying to correct your bite. I will advise you that you will be much happier when the treatment is complete and you had followed all the instrucions. The more you wear your elastics the faster your teeth will move. If you have to you can take them out for a little while.
good Luck
I got braces too but well it will be practical if you follow the treatment it needs some sacrifice anyway but if you really think that it makes you appear unpleasant I suggest that you talk with your dentist about the matter or else ask second opinion from another dentist.
The treatment will be faster if you follow it otherwise it will take couple of months to end it if the treatment wasn't followed
If your ortho told you to wear them all the time, wear them all the time. I rarely notice people's braces or elastics.
i know how you feel about the embarrassment part but the thing is that if you don't wear them you will have to wear them next month and in the end have your braces on longer.
It's really your choice, because the orthodontist can't force you to have them in your mouth. But think of it this way. The time spent with the rubbers out of your mouth will either be A) teeth that aren't shaped like you and your doctor want them to be or B) extra months or YEARS with the braces on. I speak from experience. I was really casual about the rubber bands and I took them out a lot because they hurt. I ended up having to keep my braces for an extra 2 or so years. Now there's an embarassment. =/
