Help! I have a knot on my tongue where my tongue ring is!?

Question:

I have had my tongue ring for over nine months now, and had it for over 4 years before I took it out the first time. This morning when I woke up I had this huge knot all around the hole of my tongue ring, I took it out thinking that is was infected, I don't think that it is b/c there is no pus. It felt better to take out the stud but I don't want to loose my pierceing! What is wrong with my tongue??????

It is possible that scar tissue is forming around the piercing. Also, you may be gaining a sensitivity to the material which the ring is made from. Rinse with warm water and salt at least 5X per day. Get a ring that is made of a different material, and see if that helps. Good luck.

I could be scar tissue or it could be imbeded infection deep within the tongue. Make an appointment with your dentist, but untill then try putting hyrogen peroxide on both sides of the hole. Or mix the hyrogen peroxide with water half in half and gargle with it. See if that helps.

I have the same thing on the under side of my tongue..It is scar tissue. You will always have it I havent had a tongue ring in 6 years and I still have it. If youa re still concerned contact your dentist.
