she needs to floss and use mouthwash...she may have gum disease...
It could be gingivitis, its normal for gums to bleed and she needs to scrub a little bit harder than normal, if she has a soft tooth brush change it for a medium.
She should use a mouth wash after brushing.
If the problem continues to exist, she needs to tell her dentist on her next appointment.
Its nothing to worry about and is your bodys natural defence against gum disease.
She needs a dental check-up to determine the cause. There could be any number of reasons from incorrect brushing to peridontal disease or inadequate nutrition. A proffessional cleaning and scalling may be in order. That would remove any plaque accumulation between the teeth and below the gum line. If left unchecked the problem could eventually cause her teeth to loosen and possible tooth loss.

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gingiva, producing bleeding with swelling, redness, exudate, a change of normal contours, and, occasionally, discomfort. Diagnosis is based on inspection. Treatment involves professional teeth cleaning and intensified home dental hygiene. Advanced cases may require antibiotics or surgery.
Periodontitis is inflammation of the periodontium—the periodontal ligament, gingiva, cementum, and alveolar bone. It usually presents as a worsening of gingivitis. Symptoms are rare except with HIV or when abscesses develop, in which pain and swelling are common. Diagnosis is based on inspection, periodontal probing, and x-rays. Treatment involves dental cleaning that extends under the gums and a vigorous home hygiene program. Advanced cases may require antibiotics and surgery.
Common causes of Gum bleeding:
* Gingivitis from inadequate plaque removal
* Periodontitis (advanced form of gingivitis)
* Anticoagulants such as Coumadin (warfarin) and heparin
* Toothbrush abrasion, improper flossing
* Infection, which can be either tooth or gum-related
* Scurvy (Vitamin C deficiency)
* Vitamin K deficiency
* Hormonal changes during pregnancy
* Chemical irritants such as aspirin
* Leukemia
* Placement of new dentures can lead to denture sores/irritations
* Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
Its a sign of gingivitis, since there is no pain when there is bleeding. That means the nerves on the gums may also be affected as well. Consult your dentist for proper treatment.
