My sister got her wisdom teeth out today...will they always be this bad?

No, everyone is different. It depends on now evasive the extraction is and how sensitive the person is to anastesia. I had the worst and best experience: my first was a millitary dentist he just pulled them and packed me up with gauze. This totally sucked, I bled for days and ended up getting what is called "dry sockets". Because I used a straw and smoked a few cig... this pulled on the areas and didn't let it fill in so they got infected... that was worse than the extractions themselves. The second time, I was given "laughing gas", which didn't make me sick they pulled them out and gave me stiches. This was pretty good, painful but I just took it easy for a few days.. no smoking or using straws, slept alot and remembered to drink water to stay hydrated. So, ask for gas and stiches, and a little pain meds (not too heavy, can make you sick to your stomach) and try to schedule over a weekend so you can sleep.
So, don't worry ... everyone is different. My husband got one out, was sore for 2 days and was pretty much over it on the 3rd day.
As for your sister; the best med. is sleep, remember to rehydrate and then sleep some more. A few days and she will be back in the game, as long as she remembers not to "suck" on anything for at least 2-3 days.
It wasn't that bad, I was a bit nauseous, but never puked. My cheeks swelled and puffed up like a squirrel though.
It's not that bad on everybody. Some people don't have any bad effects at all, others get a little sore and drowsy, and some end up like your sister. Don't worry, you may react completely differently than your sister is.
As for your sister:
1.) Have her drink flat 7-up (NOT through a straw) and nibble on soft foods. This will help calm her stomach and hopefully stop the vommiting. Make sure she eats something before taking her pain killers as well otherwise she'll just throw them back up because they'll irritate her stomach.
2.) Tell her to rest A LOT
3.) Tell her to keep ice on her face as much as possible
Hope this makes you feel better about having yours out next year, and I hope some of this makes your sister feel better! Good Luck. :-)
I had the same negative experience as your sister.
The pain and discomfort varies from person to person. It will eventually go away. Mine went away in 3 days.
Your sister is probably having a reaction to the anesthesia.
It's not always that bad.
I lucked out, turns out I never had wisdom teeth to begin with. :p
no it will go away in about a week or too my friend got them out lol it just take the brusing to go away for a while lol!
Hope She feels better!
No worries this is perfectly normal. i think that your sister may be having a reaction to the anastectic. (the drug used to make her go to sleep). she also may be having a reaction to the pain killers that they are giving her. those are also most likely causiing the drowsyness. After the first couple of days this will happeen sadly but it will get better in the end. :)
good luck!
Sounds like she is having a reaction to meds or the anesthesia. Had mine out years ago and only had one that caused problems, but it was pain, no puking. My top teeth popped out like corn off the cob, no problems whatsoever. Everyone reacts differently and some teeth are worse than others. If she gets past the puking, have her try a 7-Up and a Hershey bar, always works to settle my stomach!
some people have a bad reaction to it. It won't be that bed for long though.
Yikes! That happened to me as well,it went away though within a few days, if her the area where her teeth start bothering her, use some luke warm teabags on them, not the gauze they give you, (it get's stuck).
