Swelling after Surgery?
Question:
Answers:
If it hurts, then call your surgeon. If not, the swelling should have gone down by now. Place an ice pack over the area to reduce the swelling. If you start noticing a taste or smell coming from the wound, other than blood, call your surgeon, it might be infected. Another sign of infection is the area is warm to the touch (compared to the rest of your face).

I couldn't open my mouth all the way for two weeks when I had mine removed. It depends on the person. As long as your rinsing your mouth and taking proper care of it you should be fine. The only thing you really need to worry about reopening the wound.
It should start to go down soon. Try using an ice pack wrpped in a towel or cloth, and apply it to your face for maybe ten minutes on, 10 min off. If it doesnt go down by the time school starts you should call the sergeon.
Maybe give it another week or so it will go down
Wow thats really wierd. So did I. Mine was the worst on Saturday and it started to down yesterday. Just make sure you keep ice on it and take lots of Motrin for the pain.
i c e yes,.
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth cut out at once, and I swelled really bad. So bad in fact that my eyes almost swelled shut, they were just tiny slits. I was swelled to some degree for about 2.5 weeks. I was bruised (I am fair skinned - bruise easily) for a month or better. But never had any actual problems related to the surgery. Each person is different. If you feel you are having probelms go ahead and call the office, better to be safe than sorry.
This question is right up my alley cause I to just had my wisdon teeth extracted, but it was 3 weeks ago, anyway I also had swelling on only my left side, and I tried ice-packs heat, you name it I tried it. I to started getting worried because I was told the swelling should go away in a few days, mine lasted 6 days, and after that I was fine. Please understand that when you have dental extractions its not as simple as people think it is, it,s alot of trama on your mouth, so it takes your body time to heal, and it will. But if in a few day,s you are still swollen, do call your dentist. Oh another thing that did help more than the ice and heat was, laying in bed, with my head elevated, use two pillows, do not sleep without elevating your head, that,s a major no,no after extractions. The worst thing that can go wrong with after care of a extraction would be any kinda pain or if you have a foul taste in your mouth. Other wise I think your on the path to recovery. Good Luck ! Penelope
The worst is over. It just gets better from here. Like they said if your in pain see your dentist or oral surgeon, it takes time.
Hopefully you'll never have any pain that is worse.
God speed to you
It really depends on the person, I looked like a chipmunk for almost a week after I got mine out. I also took 800 g (or mg or whatever the correct weight is) of motrin three times a day for three weeks. If it doesnt hurt too much, you probably dont have an infection (you'd know...it hurts BAD). At least the surgery is done and the worst is over now!
