Still Bleeding Badly...?
Question:
Answers:
If it's still bleeding bad, call the dentist, or a doctor. It should have stopped with pressure within an hour or an hour and a half, or at least have slowed down considerably.
Call your dentist and ask :D
He needs to call his dentist, I had this problem once and they told me to put a wet tea bag in the socket, the herbs help minimize and eventually stop the bleeding.
Mine bleed for hours, but it wasn't badly though. You need to call the doctor's office where he had the surgery. It may be nothing, but call anyway.
If he doesn't stop bleeding it means he's not pregnant but you should take him to the doctors office to make sure.
Yes, call the dentist or oral surgeon. I had that happen once. There was something called granular tissue that was the cause of the bleeding, and it had to be removed. He should not still be bleeding.
take a teabag and moisten slightly, have him put it in his mouth over the extraction area, the tataric acid in the tea helps coagulate the blood...do not eat, drink, SMOKE, SIPE through a straw, this will pull the clot out and he will get a dry socket and that is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy... painful. dont even swish anything in his mouth, spit the blood very careful as to not disturb the stitched area.if it continues go back to the dentist.teabags ususally do it though.
I had the same problem and called my dentist. He advised me to bite on a moistened tea bag for thirty minutes. The tannic acid in the tea bag helps to form a clot by contracting bleeding vessels. To minimize further bleeding, do not become excited, sit upright, and avoid exercise.
You can google this "Tea bags & Wisdom teeth" if you like and it will give you all the info you need.
i bleed for a while try gargling with warm salt water that's what the doc told me to do for my son when he cut the roof of his mouth good luck
Replace the guaze with tea bags. Have him bite down to apply a light pressure on the wounds for thirty minutes with the tea bags. If he is stil bleeding, go for another thirty with fresh tea bags. If that doesn't work, you need to call your dentist and see what he recommends, but tea has a natural acid that should stop the bleeding. That's what they told me to use three days ago when I had a tooth pulled.
Yes, I had the same situation. Not bad bleeding, but more than they said it would (they said within an hour, also).
I still had some good blood about nine hours afterward, so I just went against their advice and bit down firmly on my own gauze for an hour. Presto. It subsided.
The next day, the dental assistant said it could have been caused by all the local anesthetic shots (thinning up the blood? I don't know.).
I'd advise him to ice the sides of his face/jaw, elevate the head under extra pillows, sleep on the back, rest. Don't disturb the clots. Let them form and "harden," or whatever they do. Walk around lightly, don't move erratically. Avoid talking too much (even on the phone to you, probably). Don't stress out or raise blood pressure by doing anything of effort or exertion. Be still and rest.
He should also report this to the dental assistant, dentist, or oral surgeon tomorrow or tonight, or whenever the follow-up call is expected.
They say in cases of extreme bleeding, if gauze doesn't work (you have to bite down firmly, remember) and if the dentist is not available, an emergency room is an option. (Although beware that his regular health insurance company might require their preapproval by phone and might not be too pleased or willing to pay for it in this day and age.) (Although I guess such elementary first aid treatment in an emergency room for bleeding will not cost too much, anyhow.)
FYI -- Vitamin K is essential for the body's blood-clotting ability. If he has a deficiency, that might also tangentially explain something. Or maybe not. Might try Vitamin K supplement pills along with milk (which contains protein and calcium, the other two elements necessary for clotting) -- although this would be a highly indirect, unproven, and delay-laden way of dealing with the problem.
It is not a problem yet. If it has been more than 24 hours, then you can panic. Right now, it is quite common.
Usually the bleeding will stop in about 45 minutes.
Has he been taking any blood thinners?? That will cause the blood to be thin and will cause him to bleed more heavily. Also if he is spitting out his saliva the bleeding will not stop. He can use a tea bag and bite down on it for about 30 min and he should be fine. good luck
