Swollen / Swelling on one side after wisdom teeth extraction?
Question:
Answers:
Swelling on lower left side only could be because: this tooth required more cutting to get out, more damage to surrounding tissue during surgery, or food is in the hole ( socket) and your gum is healing over it. It feels like a ball because of the infection or your tissue reacting to the trauma. To get rid of it: take antibiotic, rinse the hole using a plastic syringe and warm salt water after every time you have food in your mouth. You can take advil as needed, use sport cream on the outside of your face. if swelling not gone in a week then ask your dr to :1 take an xray and check it. 2 place gel foam and a dry socket paste into the hole. This should take care of it. good luck
Swelling is normal after an extraction. If your dentist checked you again, you will be OK. Penicillin is an antibiotic, so your taking a painkiller with it will be fine. Use ice packs to help decrease the swelling, 15 mins. on max..30 mins. off. MILD rinsing with salt water is fine, just don`t get too vigorous with the swishing. Don`t probe it with your tongue, or suck through a straw for awhile also. Your worst is over.
