don't worry. just think about things that make you happy.
dont be scared...its not rootcanal or anything horrible...just a little filling...if you really scared get injected before the dental fills you in.the injection will be a little pinch thats all..Good luck
Ask the dentist for some gas. You won't be nervous. That stuff makes you so relaxed and you do not even worry about what is going on
I just had my first fillingS this morning! (I had four and have to go back for four more, agh!)
I have to be honest, it's not exactly the most comfortable time ever. But, I am like the biggest whimp, and I survived! It didn't really hurt... The shots to numb you did a little (after they already did it 3 times and going for 3 more or something crazy) The drill, and all that I didn't mind a bit! Oh, and I HATED the gas, it was gross in my opinion... But most people love it :P Don't be scared! It's not bad. Your mouth will be numb for a while (or mine was) but it'll go away. :]
Imagination can run riot. Try to relax by deep breaths and get your mind on something else. Think that after tomorrow you will have no more pain from that tooth. Even tell the dentist that you are very nervous, Im sure it wont be as bad as you think.
Hi hun. You've got nothing to be scared about. From the sound of things you don't have them very often which hopefully means it's not a major one, so it should be over with pretty quickly. They should give you some anaesthetic to numb the area and then you won't feel a thing, so you can literally sit back and relax and let the dentist and nurse do the hard work. Try not to worry, you'll be fine. Let us know how it goes x x
Ok, first of all, let the Dentist know you are nervous. S/he should then talk you through what is going to happen before s/he does anything. Also s/he should discuss a sign with you such as raising a hand, for if you want to stop during the treatment . eg if you want to stop for a swallow etc.
If it's the noise you're worried about, take an MP3 player etc with you with your favourite songs / relaxing music / audio-books.
During treatment, take nice slow deep breaths through your nose, this should help to calm you. Shut your eyes, imagine a favourite holiday / place. Concentrate on the sounds you heard when you were there, if the sun was shining on your skin - the warm feeling from it. Think about the smells too, if you are thinking about a beach, concentrate on the fresh smell of the sea, or of the ice cream that usually drips down your top!
Hopefully all these tips should make your visit easier for you.
Good luck, and DON'T WORRY!! Dental treatment should be relatively pain-free.
wear your walkman, thats what we recommend in our surgery
