This has happened to me and I used a sensitive tooth paste and some luke warm water to brush and that helped me after a couple of times good luck
You can ask your dentist to prescribe you a special toothpaste for sensitivity. Then go to the pharmacist and pick it up. I used this after getting my braces off and it worked really well. Dont swallow it though and follow the directions.
okay, buy sensodyne toothpaste. it really does work. if after a week your teeth are still sensitive, go to the dentist, you might have a cavity. but sensodyne is really helpful, i use it every once in a while. it really is a good way to tell if you just have sensitive teeth(which can randomly happen at any time) or if you have a cavity, cuz if it is a cavity, it will hurt like hell when you eat something sweet, even with sensodyne. and don't worry if your teeth hurt when you brush, cuz it is just that they are sensitive.
Ask for OMNI-GEL fluoride treatment from your dentist, it has the "Stannous-Fluoride Ion" in it which helps strengthen the enamel of your teeth, and kills the bacteria that cause cavities. It will definitely help your sensitivity to go away.
try a sensitive tooth paste...
You can try Sensodyne toothpaste, however that will only work for as long as you use it. We see a Rx toothpaste called Sooth Rx that corrects the problem. See your dentist to see if they can recommend a product like that (Sooth Rx is sold by Omni). Also, if you have been whitening your teeth, that could be causing it. If that's the case, try whitening every other day, instead of every day & decrease the amount of time that you're leaving the bleach on.
I use Colgate sensitive- and the dentist told me to use ACT mouthwash, it makes the roots and gums stronger to sensitivity.
Also, make sure your toothbrush is soft to medium and that you brush gently circular motion- do not brush up and down hard this will cause receding gums which could also be what is going on- I have both sensative teeth and gums with some receding lines. Can no longer use regular toothpast or smoke comes out my ears!
