Do I have wisdom teeth?!?

Question:
I'm not sure. My orthodontist hasn't mentioned me having them but im not sure. I'm getting my braces off in like a month and a half so I need to know so I can get them pulled after getting my braces off.
So I have my two front teeth then I have 6 teeth on each side after my two front teeth so I have 14 teeth on top and bottom for a total of 28. Does that mean that I don't have wisdom teeth because I don't have a total of 32?
[I think, if i remember correctly, we're supposed to have 32 including wisdom teeth]

Answers:
The only way to tell for sure is on an x-ray. Not every one gets them any more. Sometimes people have one, two or three but not all four. They may not have mentioned them because of your age, they're typically not taken out until you're 16-21. The reason being that the tooth part forms first, then the roots. The best time to have them taken out is when the tooth is fully formed, but the roots are not. Also, some times they come in sideways or not all the way which is why you need an x-ray to see them. They won't necessarily come in like the rest of your teeth.
yea you have widom teeth
every one has wisdom teeth, When they are pulled or not is up to your dentists, For instance I got mine pulled at 18, My brother in law is 26 and they are still not in yet.
you dont have wisdom, but you have wisdom teeth
first off you cant see your wisdom teeth because they havent grown in yet. the only way you can see them is with xray. im sure you have them and most likely will need them out. they rarely grow in straight.
I had FIVE wisdom teeth. I'm extra wise!!
Yes you do have wisdom teeth.
I have wisdom teeth now and i counted.
14 teeth on both sides
there is a small possibility that you do not have wisdom teeth. however, it is a greater chance that they have not come in. i only had 3 when i got mine pulled out. my orthodontist made me get them cut out before i got my braces off. you need to call him and your dentists and ask if your wisdom teeth show up on your x-rays. by the way, when you get them cut out, it does not hurt that bad! ;)
yea and gettin them out doesnt hurt.
yes we all have wisdom teeth but they come in in your late teens maybe early 20's
Not everyone has wisdom teeth. Some people have supernumerary (extra) teeth and some people are missing teeth. There are patients that I have seen who may have only 3 wisdom teeth or only 2 wisdom teeth. Most likely though, your wisdom teeth are still impacted. You need to go to your dentist to have an x-ray taken to determine whether or not they need to be taken out. Its possible that your orthodontist even has x-rays (often taken in panograph format) of your whole jaw showing the location of the impacted teeth.
