Can an impacted widsom tooth cause bad breath?

Question:
I think food particles are getting stuck under the gumline and I can't even clean back there by flossing. Is this causing rotting-food bad breath? I already listerine but it doesn't seem to help. How can I clean bacteria near my wisdom teeth? Will I eventually need to extract them b/c of cavities?

Answers:
Yes, it will cause bad breath, cavities, and eventually abscess. You need to have them pulled, esp. if they are already impacted. This can cause severe sinus problems in the future if you don't have it taken care of. And if you abscess you can get infection other places like your heart and lungs, though it is rare. Food under the gumline will cause gingivitis and periodontal disease which will lead to bone loss and tooth loss. Please take care of your teeth right away! You may already have cavities if this has been going on for a few months
Yes that could be causing the bad breath. Also, you probably should consider having the wisdom teeth out. For one, since they are so hard to keep clean you could develop cavities in those teeth. But also, if there's not enough room for them they can trap the gum tissue between them & the other teeth which can cause infection.
yes, yes, yes, & yes... impacted wisdom teeth can cause alot more problems than bad breath if you don't get them removed! talk to your dentist, see an Oral Surgeon to have the procedure...
i had mine taken out last year. you'll be out of commission for a couple of days but it's better than having to have surgery because of an infection setting into your jaw (or worse)
Yes. You probably have an infection. The breakage at that tooth, you probably can't clean properly and get to it enough. This is one of the reasons to cause bad breath. You will probably need it extracted. You need to go see your dentist.
YES.. I had the wisdom tooth was impacted and it was pushing the gum against the other tooth.. so Icouldnt clean it and it decayed and I had to get that one pulled too at the same time
