Top teeth?

Question:
I was thinking of getting braces and I only want the top teeth done. Is it possible that they'll do that or would they just do everything anyways? I have a slight gap on my top, and on my bottom I only have one tooth that may be slightly crooked, but you cant even notice that, and what's bonding?

Answers:
I've been in braces for 2 years. I thought that my bottom teeth were absolutely perfect, and I made it clear that I wanted to do without the bottom braces. The main reason I chose to get braces was because of a small gap inbetween my two front teeth on the top. The orthodontist INSISTED that I got the bottom braces. He said that the top braces wouldn't be effective without the bottom, because teeth need to fit together like pieces of a puzzle, and they were already paid for, so I should just go through with it. Having them on the bottom as well isn't that much more of a hassel, if you must get both, it's worth it for a year or two to have a beautiful smile! On the other hand, you might have a completely different case where your bottom teeth, bite, and midline are absolutely PERFECT. If that's the case you might not need both, I knew this kid who only needed braces on the bottom. I thought that was pretty unusual, but hey every case is different. Good luck!
