Actually the pain depends on the condition of your tooth, if the nerves in the teeth are already dead, it won't pain much. From http://drcaird.com/rootcanal.html...
I've had a root canal and it didn't hurt at all. I never felt any pain. I didn't need any pain meds. But i have had some friends who have had them and they said it hurt really bad. So i dont know, if you have a great dentist and your lucky, you'll be fine. =]
Ugg i feel for you! I hate the dentist to!! Hopefully the worst will be getting the shoot to numb your mouth, and if your body takes to the medicine you should be ok. Tell them you have a low main tolerance and that you need extra pain meds and extra meds in the shot. Goodluck
Root Canal therapy is not painful if done correctly, usually your tooth is already dead, or if not they will give you some anesthetic to numb it.
I would take two ibuprofen/paracetamols (if you can take these) - basic head ache tabs-
Only if you are really scared of pain, you should be fine. The dentist probably won't give you any pain med's as it is usually fine, should take at least 1/2 hour, they will put an antibiotic in your tooth canal any way. You should have 2 visits.
I've had root canal and only once did it ever hurt so bad, that I had to go back. The dentist prescribed- Penicillin and Tylenol with codeine.
