Question:
I had 4 impacted teeth removed, and now my mouth has stitches in it. I was told to keep it clean the days after surgery by rinsing my mouth with salt water when i wake up, after I eat, and before I go to bed etc to stop the risk of infection. Now it's Monday and I was wondering how long do I keep having to do this for?
Answers:
I believe it is until all of the stiches are gone and then one week after that. I would continue doing it until you knew 100% that you were all done. Also if you have a follow up appointment (which you should) they may tell you to stop then. But I think swishing water in my mouth is better than having an infection!!
until the stitches are taken out =or until they are dissolved
better safe then sorry, i did the rinse for a week after i had my wisdom teeth out. it wont hurt to keep it up for another few days.
