Why does getting a root canal improve sinuses?

Question:
My uncle scuba dives and just got one b/c he said it's good for diving

Answers:
anytime you have an air cavity, it is sensitive to pressure changes. That is why divers must equalize their ears, mask, dry suit, etc. when descending or ascending. It is possible to have air pockets trapped around an old filling that are impossible for a diver to equalize. The pressure build up would hurt, a lot. Having a root canal, re-doing the filling or whatever, would get rid of the air pocket and the pain!
He was probably feeling "more" pain from the underwater pressure due to him having an abscessed tooth. Same thing happens with flying.
