As soon as they get teeth, I wouldnt go its just the one but certainly when they have a few teeth at least and start eating solids then I would recommend they go
It will just be a general check and will be more than likely nothing other than just a visualand wont take more than 5mins.
They can check to see that everythings fine and that there are no teeth growing on top of each other and its also good to get your child used to the dentist as early as possible, especially when they are very unlikely to have to have any work done, that way they have no 'bad associations' with the dentist.
When they start getting their teeth. Even though the dentist can't do much they like to look at the babies teeth to make sure they are coming in right. You can ask your pediatrician for sure. I think I took my child after she turned one.
when a child has all of his or her primary teeth in place is a good time to have there first visit
I took my 4 year old and he needed a filling! I wish I had taken him when he was younger!!
My dentist told me you should take children when they are old enough to understand they are sat in the chair so they get used to going from a young age.
On the first visit they would probably just give them a quick look over and hopefully nothing will need doing. Unlike my situation!
4 years old! They just check if everything is ok.
A good age is 2 and you can usually just bring your child with you to and appt and have the dr or hygeienst look at the teeth. Some offices have appts especially for this. the office that I worked at called them a Happy visit. It just gets the child comfertable with the chair and the different noises that go on while at the appt. Making silly names for the suction, air/water syringe, mirror, and the "tooth counter". Usually at the age of 3 the child will be able to sit thru an hygeine appt where they get there teeth polished and an attemt is made at getting x-rays if they can get got it's not a big deal they'll just try in 6 months...My son was 3 1/2 when he got his frist x-rays and did great. He got his first flouide treatment when he was 4. Good Luck
