I had my braces put on at age 20 and to prepare for them I had my 5 teeth (3 wisdom, 2 premolar) teeth out the day after my honeymoon. My husband had his on for the wedding! I also had a 67 year old male patient with braces who was the best at homecare and following the orthodontists directions. I would do it again in a heartbeat and am so glad that once my bite was corrected that I wouldn't be needing crowns to fix my worn out teeth from my bad bite. Although it is more work to clean them while they are on it is temporary. Of course, I am a dental hygienist so I guess it was a priority! Good luck!

PS. At the very least see if you can have a consultation (they are often free) to get all of the information so you can make an educated descision.
that would be weird you never see older people with braces only little kids
Yes, yes, yes. They make invisible ones now.
Yes. I'm 20 just got them on about 2 months ago. It sucks and is kind of embarressing for a bit, but I've adjusted. Sometimes when I'm meeting my boyfriend's friends for the first time i feel stupid. I know it will all be worth it in a year.
I am not your age but my cousin who is had got braces and since their teeth were more developed they only had them for a couple of months trust me it will be worth it in the end.
Yes, My cousin was 32 yrs.old and Yes, it was worth it very much to her.bettyk
That's not too old for braces- I even once saw an old grandma with braces (I swear, she had to be at least 75). Whether it's worth it is up to you. If you're fine with how your teeth look, then really think about it before you spend a lot of money and commit to braces. If you're really self-conscious about your teeth, however, then it may be a consideration. It sounds like you've already decided to get braces, so ask the orthodontist about getting those invisible braces (I've even heard that they make a kind of metal braces that go behind your teeth instead of in front, so that may also be an option).
My sister-in-law a former Ms. Ky is 30 and just got braces. It's never to late. And I would say it would be worth it!
I definitely think it's worth it! If you don't like your teeth now, then you never will, so have them straightened. Personally, I would go with the new invisible/removable braces. I think they're called invisalign. Hope this helps..
Yes, I am 33 and I got them 6 months ago. It has been worth it for me as my spacing has already closed. I may not have to spend the full 18 months in braces as my Ortho first projected.

Good Luck!!
Hey I'm 22 and I'm getting braces soon also please keep in tpuch with me and I think you are never to old to get braces I can't wait to get them on
of course!!..its worth it at any age...you should really go for it..you will thank your self years later. I just got braces 5 months ago and i'll be 20 in 8 days so by the time i get my braces off i'll be 22.
Don't be ridiculous! Of course it is totally normal and worth it. I have worked in ortho offices for 7+ years and the number of adults with braces keeps going up. It is becoming very mainstream. Believe it or not, we had a lady who was in her 70's! Also, many celebrities have gotten braces over that last few years...Tom Cruise, Terrell Davis, Danny Glover just had them when he was on Deal or No Deal a few weeks ago!
OH MY WORD!1 YESSSSSSS... it is totally worth it.. I had braces put on at the age of 23 and got them off about 3 months ago... TOATLLY worth it, and i feel so much better about smiling around people and have more self confidence!
