Have there been any significant advances in dentistry over the last 10-20 years?

Lots! Aside from the ones already mentioned, they now have computer controlled anaesthesia for those of you that are terrified of the needle, this system lets anaesthesia into the area applied one drp at a time, no more pain. They have laser machine to diagnose teeth to see if it has a cavity. There are digital x rays, no more waiting for the film to develop. Abrasive air systems, it's like a sand blaster for teeth, and it only wears down unhealthy tissue like cavities and make very little noise for those of you scared of the drill. They now have CAD/CAM which is computer aided design/computer aided manufacture of crowns and bridges so your dentist can have your prosthetic teeth ready to go the next day.

This is just off the top of my head. All these things aren't the standard or norm in dentistry meaning you won't find it everywhere because it is all so expensive. So ask around, because I know a lot of people will be glad to know dentistry is now a lot less painless.
