Cracking jaw?
Question:
Answers:
I started having this problem over a year ago when i had braces. I just ignored it because i figured it was normal. After getting my braces off, i still had the problem so i decided to ask my orthodontist. He told me to take tylenol for 2 weeks and see if that helped because it could be a swollen jaw. I don't have the cracking when i eat anymore, but i still feel like it's misplaced or something. It feels tense sometimes, too. Ocassionally, it pops and it'll feel like something broke in my jaw, but minutes later, it'll go back to place. I'm getting it checked out soon, and i might need a minor surgery.
I had that. My jaw kept cracking almost everytime i ate something. I just went easy on the food and it dissapeared
You are correct. I suggest limiting chewing gum. Its hard not to yawn so there is no help there. Unfortunetly there is no real fix for your problem.
Unfortunatly there is nothing that the doctors can do other than surgery & they only do that in extreme cases. The best thing is to give your jaw a rest. =)
I had the same answer and I had to get like a retainer and wear it for like 9 months as much as possible and it got better. But you need to go because the longer you wait the more it hurts and then it starts giving you really bad head aches.Make an appointment with your dentist
Good luck
you need to re-think what you eat since it for sure sounds like you have TMJ, do this now before it gets worse (and it will)
no more gum, no more tuff food (steak, no ice chewing, chewy candy etc..) no more wide mouth yawns, think about what you do if it makes your jaw crack, pop or hurt don't do it. you might consider a the new soft mouth retainers alot of people use at night and some durning the day (you might try the one you can buy over the counter at drug stores) if it doesn't work you will have to get one from a dentist or oral surgeon, you might also make sure the dentist or oral surgeon you see specializes in TMJ. take advil for any pain and stay away from all caffeine. if you ever go to dentist and they want to grind down or smooth out your teeth walk out. you might also be grinding your teeth at night and you don't know it, if your waking up in the morning with a jaw, teeth or head or neck ache or all of the above you might be doing this.
