Is it possible to have adverse reaction to numbing injections or gels ?
Question:
Answers:
Some people do get an allergic reaction from the amide family of anesthetics currently in use such as Lidocaine, but it's pretty rare. It is far more common for someone to be allergic to the older ester family of anesthetics like novocaine, which is why virtually no dentists use injected novocaine anymore.
Some people might also be allergic to the sulfite preservative in the anesthetic, but that is also relatively rare.
The last thing some people might react to would be the epinephrine (AKA adrenaline) in some of the injected anesthetics. It sometimes causes rapid heartbeat and other "fight or flight" reactions, and this happens fairly frequently.
Hope this helps.
It is possible to have an adverse reaction. You may be sensitive or allergic to medications in the "caine" family. Novacaine, Lidocaine, Benzocaine etc.
Hey, monkey, are you in animal testing?
Yes it's possible. If you have a bad reaction, tell your dentist
and they can use a different one next time. There are several
different types.
It can happen...with both topical and internal antesthetics.
Yes. With an injection I've ALWAYS wanted to shove a red hot poker up his..
